This is a nice page that connects a few indie rock dots, taken from Conflict magazine, Matador Recs co-owner Gerard Cosloy’s Homestead-era ‘zine. Note the (juvenile, no doubt incredibly embarrassing to dredge up) letter to the editor by then Disaster magazine/future Smog creator Bill Callahan. Also note the ad for “Sub Pop 100,” the first ever legit (non-cassette) Sub Pop Records release. So: Matador, Drag City and Sub Pop, all repped on the same page in 87. The world was so small then.
